The Saratoga County incident happened Friday, Jan. 12 in the town of Malta, at a residence on Knabner Road.

Sheriff’s officials said deputies were called at around 12:45 a.m. for a disturbance call.

An investigation found that George Tinoco, of Saratoga Springs, entered the home through a window while armed with a knife. He allegedly then stabbed a woman in her arm.

Investigators said the attack happened while a child was present in the home. The child was not injured.

The victim was taken to Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Tinoco was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 16 after being released from Albany Medical Center, where he had been treated for self-inflicted wounds, deputies said.

He is charged with burglary, possession of burglar’s tools, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Deputies did not say whether he knew the victim or speculate on a possible motive for the attack.

Following his arraignment in the Malta Town Court, Tinoco was taken to the Saratoga County jail without bail.
